Daiso is founded by Hirotake Yano in Japan on 1977, it is also incorporated as Daiso Sangyo Inc. in the same year. In Japan where price, quality and design holds such importance, Daiso is able to established itself as a household name and where Daiso products are indispensible in most Japanese homes.

Daiso has 90,000 lifestyle items and novelty gift products, whilst introducing over 1000 new products to customers every month. Besides gaining superior reputation , Daiso has also become a real destination for both local Japanese as well as International shoppers. Daiso is growing at a rate of 20 to 30 stores a month in Japan, which adding to Daiso existing 2500 domestic stores and 500 overseas stores and achieving sales revenue of US$3.8 Billions Dollars last year.

Daiso has the capability to cater to all demographics over such a broad spectrum, not to mention its appeal but also to commercial markets and certain industries. Daiso has boundless potential.

Sales Performance

The size of a company can be judged by its sales and in the year ended March 2005, Daiso reported sales of over 320 Billions Yen. This catapulted Daiso to No.213 in global retail rankings (2005) and No.30 in domestic rankings.

Moreover, in January 2005, the monthly magazine of the U.S. National Retail Federation, Stores, Daiso has been selected as the tenth fastest growing company in the global retail industry.

Stores in Japan

Daiso's first directly-managed store opened in 1991, in the city of Takamatsu, located in Kagawa, Japan. Thereafter, Daiso has continued to expand and store are opened in various regions throughout the country. Today, Daiso has a network of 2570* stores, covering every prefecture of the archipelago, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south. Moreover, the company is opening new shops at the rate of 10 to 20 a month. Daiso has grown large enough to secure more than 65% share of the domestic market, and become an indispensable store to the community.

Stores around the globe

in 2000, Daiso opened its first store overseas in Taiwan. Today Daiso has approximately 550* shops overseas, in Singapore, Canada, Korea, the Middle East and many other areas. In September 2005, Daiso opened a shop in Seattle and today the international Daiso network extends to 24 countries and regions.
